THE first teaser trailer for The World’s End – the blockbuster movie starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – has been released. Watch the video here.
The eagerly-awaited third and final part of Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy was partly filmed in Welwyn Garden City.
Now fans can watch a sneak preview ahead of the apocalyptic comedy’s UK release on Friday, July 19.
Director Edgar Wright tweeted this morning (Wednesday): “Earth, it’s time to get wasted | The UK teaser trailer for ‘The World’s End’: video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/ex… (Watch in HD)”
And Hertfordshire-based actor Simon Pegg tweeted: “Ladies and gentlemen, The World’s End teaser trailer #1. Watch in HD”.
In the film, Pegg plays ringleader Gary King, who reunites a group of fortysomething friends to attempt again an epic pub crawl from their youth – the so-called ‘golden mile’ through their home town of Newton Haven.
However, completing the marathon drinking binge turns out to be the least of their worries, with Newton Haven not quite how the gang remember it as teenagers – with the town taken over by a horde of glowing-eyed beings.
The catastrophic pub crawl starts at The First Post – actually The Peatree in Welwyn Garden City – and ends at the aptly named The World’s End.
Other pubs visited en route include The Old Familiar, which is really The Doctors Tonic in WGC, The Famous Cock, better known as The Cork in Howardsgate, and The Cross Hands, the Parkway Bar in Welwyn Garden City town centre.
As well as Shaun of the Dead duo Pegg and Frost, the film also features Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan as Gary King’s old mates and ex-Bond girl Rosamund Pike.
As for the film’s Cornetto flavour, director Edgar Wright tweeted last week: “The World’s End’ is not in 3D, but I recommend you eat a mint Cornetto while watching for full sensory overload.”
Romantic zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead – the first part of the trilogy, also known as the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy – features a red strawberry flavoured Cornetto, signifying the film’s bloody and gory elements.
Buddy cop action comedy follow-up Hot Fuzz includes the classic blue Cornetto, a nod to the police element to the film.
Trilogy sequel The World’s End will feature a green mint ice cream.
