One of the largest fireworks displays in Hertfordshire for Bonfire Night 2016 will take place at Verulamium Park in St Albans.

Attracting thousands each year, the annual Verulamium Fireworks Spectacular will light up the night sky on Saturday, November 5.

There will be music, food and fun for the whole family at this ever-popular event near St Albans Cathedral.

Taking place in Verulamium Park, this amazing public display was started over 25 years ago in order to reduce firework accidents at home and over the years it has raised more than £730,000 for local and national charities.

This year’s charity is Special Olympics St Albans, as well as other charities supported by the cathedral.

The display is produced by Fantastic Fireworks of Redbourn, the leading provider of spectacular fireworks in the UK, and is organised by the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban and local volunteer groups.

The display starts at 7.30pm prompt, with gates open from 6pm.

Access to the arena is by all the entry points into Verulamium Park, which have manned gates in operation.

Advance adult tickets cost £5, and £2 children under-16. It is free for children three and under.

A reduced price advanced family ticket for two adults and two children costs £10.

Entry at the gates, cash only, is £7 adults, and £4 children. A family ticket on the night costs £15.

Licensed bars are inside the display area.

No sparklers or other personal fireworks are allowed in the display area.

The fireworks display takes place in the dark in a large open space near open water, so it is advisable to bring a torch.
