AFC Welwyn have named their new manager - former Hitchin Town and Stotfold boss Brett Donnelly.
The former striker was sacked as boss of the Southern League Premier Division Central Canaries on October 24 but has wasted little time in getting back in the dugout.
He joins the Spartan South Midlands League Division One side after the resignation of Liam Errington, with the Romans sitting in the table.
Previously he had taken Stotfold from the same division up to Southern League Division One Central thanks to back-to-back promotions.
And he says the vision explained to him by owner and friend Tawhid Juneja was what tempted him back quickly.
Speaking on social media, Donnelly said: "Never had any intention of going back to step six but I’ve known T for a long time and his ambition and sales pitch definitely won me over.
"It’s a club hopefully going places and one I’m looking forward to helping push forward.
"The backing, the squad and the plans for the future are exciting."
On their own channels, AFC Welwyn added: "We are thrilled to introduce Brett Donnelly as our new first team manager.
"After a thorough selection process, we were fortunate to have a pool of exceptional candidates with a track record of success from step three to step five.
"It was crucial for us to appoint a manager who not only has a proven history of achieving back-to-back promotions but also shares our vision for AFC Welwyn.
"Brett's appointment signifies our commitment to on-field success and finding the right leader to guide us through the non-league pyramid."
Donnelly officially starts his role on Monday and is in the process of finalising his backroom team.
