Usually a major staple in the calendar at Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club, this year's Commodore's Cup had absolutely everything bar one thing - wind.
The forecast also meant some stayed away and so a shortened and simplified course faced the shall fleet of sailors willing to move at a water snail’s pace for the morning.
David Lambert proved to be the only one to make much progress in the first race.
A long way behind him came Alan Campbell who in turn was well ahead of Annette Walter even on handicap.
They only completed two laps, the remainder only managed one.
There was slightly more of a breeze for the deciding pursuit race.
Walter was first away and although Lambert steadily closed her down, she was ahead at the final hooter.
However, a second place for Lambert was enough to secure him the over title with Campbell in third.
The winners collected their prizes and celebrated with the large number of spectators with hot punch and cakes.
