Garden City Runners have passed the halfway point of the Sunday Cross-country League in a fabulous position.
Round three took place at Trent Park in Cockfosters and saw a large turnout from the Welwyn Garden City running club.
Team captain James Huish said: "With three fixtures under our belts already, it feels like we’re in mid-season, especially as the weather is getting colder.
"We now have a few weeks break until the next fixture at Stevenage on December 15.
"Overall, the men have had a strong showing and currently sit first in both the overall and masters championships with two races to go.
"This has been a result of fantastic participation and great packing in the lower places, pushing our competitors down the rankings.
"We have had the highest turnout and our eighth finisher is usually ahead of our rivals’ equivalent.
"On the women’s side, the masters team are currently third, while the team are fourth overall.
"There’s not too much in it so it would be great to have more women turn out in the remaining two fixtures, to push us up the rankings."
Robin Cattle opted for a slightly further away and definitely warmer half-marathon than what the local ones could offer.
He said: "I joined the City Marathon event in Luzern, Switzerland, which includes 10k, half marathon and full marathon options.
"I ran the half marathon with my sister who lives nearby. It was an amazing experience, great weather at 18 degrees.
"Only two hills in the first half and we ran around the lakes and through the Luzern football stadium.
"The finish line was at the Luzern Transport Museum and my time was two hours 12 minutes, quicker than the Stevenage Half Marathon I did the week before."
Another lovely autumnal Saturday morning sent 107 GCRs out to parkruns across Herts and beyond.
Paul Guy was first at Stevenage with Jamie Rose in third and Andy Gittens eighth.
Zoe Stephens was the female winner with Alex Faulkner seventh.
At the home Panshanger event, Jessica Plant was second lady while Peter McKenzie took second overall at Lydney with Bruce Judge fourth at Letchworth.
Amber-Leigh Marvin was fourth lady at Gunpowder.
