Four games with a victory in the Isthmian League Premier Division is now too many for Potters Bar Town manager Max Mitchell.
They have drawn twice in that sequence but the latest match ended in a 3-1 defeat away to Dulwich Hamlet.
And it was a game similar to a few more this season where the final score did not perhaps reflect the performance.
Mitchell said: "First half we had a couple of gilt-edged chances and I thought our game plan and our discipline out of possession was excellent. We caught them on the counter on numerous occasions.
"It's been the story over the last few games, we're not able to get the ball in the back of the net.
"We're disappointed with the result, not the performance, but we need to get back to doing the right things in terms of the final third, just being a little bit more proactive and doing things a little bit sharper."
The Hamlet took the lead on the stroke of half-time, Danny Mills and they went 2-0 up through Luke Wanadio on 57 minutes, three minutes before Ronnie Henry got his first for the club.
And even with an injury to Henry's centre-half partner Rickie Hayles, the Scholars were still pushing for an equaliser when they were caught on the counter seep into stoppage time, substitute Lorenzo grabbing the third.
And a late chance for Brandon Adams not taken, plus a penalty shout for a tackle on Nana Kyei waved away, means Mitchell is aware that moments are not being taken.
He said: "We talk about small margins in football all the time and if one or two of those early chances go in, it is a different game.
"They didn't but even at 1-0 down, I still felt we were well in the game.
"We lost our centre-half after 60 minutes and had to make a change and it got a little disconnected at times.
"They had a 10-minute spell of pressure where we didn't get to grips with the game.
"We still kept going and in the last 10 minutes we were still trying to get a second goal and they caught us on the counter in the last minute to make it 3-1.
"I don't think the result reflected the performance and we have to start putting the ball in the back of the net, for sure.
"We had a really good start to the season and we have to take note of that but we also have to start picking up points.
"The last three games have been against tough opposition - Dover, Dartford and now Dulwich, and it will only get tougher."
Next up in the league is two games in three days, the first at home to Cray Wanderers on Saturday and then a trip to Carshalton Athletic on Monday.
And Mitchell says they will have to wait and see with regards the injury to Hayles.
"He's OK," said the boss. "Rickie has been excellent for us this season, as has Ronnie, but he's picked up a slight niggle.
"We'll assess it and we'll make a decision for Saturday."
