The latest races at Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club had a heavyweight feel to the front end as well as a family squabble in the pack.

The number of competitors was much reduced from the norm, not helped by a poor weather forecast.

In the end though, that forecast was wide of the mark with plenty of wind and only a few showers.

Those who did compete were led in the first pursuit race by Angelo Hansen.

He made a great start, catching a good wind down the left while the others drifted down the right and centre.

By the end of the first lap he was leading by the length of the lake and although Annette Walter was able to eat into this, she had to settle for second.

There was a family duel for third place with Alexander Burr beating his parents, Ruth and Kevin, in the double hander.

The lead changed hands twice in the final stages of the last lap and with time running out, Walter tried to take a different course to the final mark but Hansen arrived there first as the hooter went.

Alexander Burr was again third.
