Louise Fiddes raced the first of what she hopes will be four finals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics - as Great Britain snatched two medals.
The Welwyn Paralympian, part of Hatfield Swimming Club, finished sixth in the final of the S14 women's 100m butterfly.
She had clocked one minute 7.91 in qualification on Thursday morning, and went faster in the final with a time of 1:06.91.
Ahead of her though, she had two team-mates scrapping for the medals.
World record holder Olivia Newman-Baronius had to settle for fourth and she was hit by double disappointment as she saw her world record disappear too.
However, the silver lining was it went to GB's Poppy Maskill who stormed to the gold in a time of 1:03.00, Britain's first of the Games.
Fiddes will also compete in the S14 200m freestyle on Saturday before her two main events, the SB14 100m breaststroke on Monday and the SM14 200m individual medley on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old won silver at Tokyo 2020 in the breaststroke and bronze in the IM.
