Shire Park Bowls Club (Tewin) had one of their major events as they celebrate their 75th season.
An anniversary match against the county, where they won four of the five rinks to win 93-79.
It was a welcome success and meant they could put to bed the defeat to Hertfordshire 25 years ago in their 50th game.
The top rink this time around was Dave Venables, Gordon Price, Chris Wright and Paul Ashwell who won 24-15.
Shire Park were well beaten in the Welwyn Hatfield triples, the team of Eileen Williams, David Williams and Gus Edwards going down at home to BSP.
The Yellows did have a good week though, taking five points in the league away to Sele Farm.
Terry Crane, Steve Calladine and Bill Draycott won 16-10 with Linda Draycott, Elaine Wulcko and Dave Warner picking up five shots on the last two ends to draw 16-16.
Park also picked up five points away to Parkside.
David Williams, Elaine Wulcko and Gus Edwards won 18-12 while Steve Calladine, Dave Warner and Kevin Brazier drew 15-15.
The Greens got two points in their match away to the Jesters.
In the Friday night triples, Shire Park also picked up two points against Batchwood, thanks to the home team of Ray Adams, Barry Wright and Kevin Brazier winning 17-13.
They lost 35-29 overall though.
There was also a game for the Greens away to near neighbours Datchworth in Division Two of the Welwyn Hatfield League, a match the home side won 29-26.
A.Childs, Alan Goddard and B.Kieber of Tewin won one rink 19-6 but a 23-7 success for Roger Tomlinson, Clyde Martindill and Ian Williams sealed the Datchworth victory.
Datchworth also had two other WHBL matches, losing on both rinks and 37-25 overall at Kimpton, but beating Hertford Wild Cards 46-27 at home.
This time both rinks won with the best of them the 20-7 success for Janet Akers, Ann Edwards and Julian Hales.
Datchworth's week had begun with a third game against Hertford in six days.
The men were playing in the East Herts Bowls League’s Ranson Cup, with one rink at home and one away.
And for once they managed to win, 38-28.
The home rink went down by two shots but the quartet of Graham Akers, Rob Hazeu, Jim Smith and Derek Henley cruised to a 23-11 success.
In the EHBL itself, the Blues lost their final Division One away to BSP 37-30, both rinks losing, but the Golds beat Stevenage Reds 30-21.
The top rink there was Andy Short, Julian Hales and Terry Metcalf who won 18-8.
Stevenage's ladies though picked up some revenge as they beat Datchworth in a North Herts Women’s Bowls Association match 36-26.
However, Datchworth did have a winning rink in the shape of Sue Ellis, Barbara Williams and Ann Edwards who fought back from 16-6 down to win 20-16.
The men had a narrow 30-27 success away to Sawbridgeworth in the Men's County League.
A three-shot loss on rink one was overturned by four shots in the final two ends of a 16-10 success for Graham Akers, Steve Arnold, Derek Henley and Peter Hills.
The end of the week brought two Stevenage Mixed League wins for Datchworth.
The first of them was an impressive 58-44 triumph at third-placed St Ippolyts with the visitors winning two and drawing one of the three matches, before claiming the extra end to take maximum points.
The top rink was Chris Hills, Ann Edwards, Graham Akers and Les Parsley who built up a 12-0 lead after three ends and eventually picked up a 22-14 win.
They then played Holwell at home and took maximum points in a 55-34 success.
This time a 24-12 win gave the top rink honour to Janet Akers, Jack Harper, Keith Smith and Graham Akers.
