A first ever hole in one for one Welwyn Garden City golfer was the big highlight at the English Amateur Championship.
Harry Cox of the Mannicotts club achieved the feat on the third hole at the links course of Seaton Carew in County Durham.
Cox had come through the round of 32 with a 3&2 win over Harry Butler of Worplesdon, Surrey.
And his magic moment came in the last 16 when he faced Phil Krone of Moseley, Birmingham.
That put him 2-up and although Krone chipped in on eight for a half, Cox stuck a wedge to mere inches for a birdie on 11, going on to win 4&3.
His run came to an end in the quarter-final against Will Tate of The Caversham.
Tate won the 1st hole with par before Cox birdied the par-5 2nd.
Cox then hit the sand on four to give Tate the hole and the Caversham golfer knocked in a 12-footer for birdie on the par-3 6th.
Both drove the green-side bunkers on the par-4 8th to halve it in birdies, before Tate did exactly the same on 9 to win the hole.
He lost his ball on the 11th and after Cox made birdie on 13, the duo halved the 14th in bogeys as they both three-putted from the fringe.
But Tate booked his spot in the semi-finals as he holed a 15-foot birdie putt on 16 and a regulation par for a half on 17 ended the match 2&1.
Cox was not the only Welwyn golfer in action in the north east.
Sophia Fullbrook of the Melbourne Club, Brocket Hall, came through the last 16 but only after a play-off, one of five games in the round needing extra holes.
She found herself 3-up through three but some fine putting from Jess Haines of Burnham & Berrow, Somerset, brought her to within one.
And despite going 2-up, Fullbrook lost 16 and 17 before the pair endured three play-off holes, which was eventually settled by a Fullbrook birdie.
Like Cox though, her run came to an end in the quarter-finals.
Lincoln's Ellise Rymer went 1-up on the 3rd and stayed ahead.
The duo halved the 10th with Fullbrook landing a monstrous 50-foot putt but Rymer then chipped in for birdie to win the 11th.
A 15-footer for birdie on the 12th enabled the Lincoln golfer to go 3-up and she ended the match with a regulation par to win 4&3.
