Welwyn Garden City have started to find their groove in the Herts Cricket League Championship - as they motored to their fifth win of the campaign and fourth in a row.

This was an entertaining four-wicket success at home to Chorleywood in a high-scoring encounter.

The visitors elected to bat and went on to make 274-8 in their 60 overs, Edward Lye top scoring on 75.

It was his capture off the bowling of Alex Chalker, and that of Will Bryant two balls later, that turned the game towards the hosts.

Chalker finished on 2-70 in 15 overs while there was 2-18 for Al Mahmud Hasan .

Jacob Logan was the main thorn in the visitors' side though as he got 4-64 in 19 overs.

He then went on to score 123 in 104 balls, part of an opening stand of 189 with Fayaz Homyoon who added 87 himself.

That set the base and from there it was a case of reaching the target, which they did in the 46th over, Owais Shah chipping in with 34.

WGC remain second, 16 points behind leaders Flitwick who also won again.

Knebworth Park's good early season form is starting to fade from memory following a third defeat in a row in Division Two B.

This one, by seven wickets at home to Bishop's Stortford, has seen them tumble from top of the league down to sixth.

They made a decent 231-7 in their 50 overs after being asked to bat first, Liam Mitchell getting 59 followed by an unbeaten late flourish from Archie Stephens (47) and Matt Hutchinson (27).

But with the sun out, the visitors always had something in the locker and eased home after 41 overs.

Tewin continued their superb season in Division Three A by adding Letchworth to their list of vanquished foes.

The 163-run success was their sixth of the season and keeps them top of the table.

They walloped a wonderful 324-5 after winning the toss, Alex Portas and Luke Wilde both hitting tonnes after sharing a partnership of 178 for the third wicket.

Wilde was the man out moments after getting to 100, the knock containing 13 fours and two sixes.

Portas remained unbeaten at the close of the innings though, finishing on 101 not out with 11 fours among his tally.

They then bowled the home side out for 161 with two wickets each for Ash Patel, Sai Chaitanya Nanduri and Tom Woods.

Datchworth are fifth after losing by 10 runs away to Bushey.

The hosts got to 133 but Datch's hopes ended with two overs to spare as they ran out of wickets, bowled for 123.

In Division Four A, Hatfield & Crusaders lost by three wickets away to Old Haberdashers, Ben Clark getting to 61 not out and Rory Gethin-Golder taking 3-39.

Hatfield Hyde though are up to second in Division Four B after beating Bayford & Hertford by 139 runs.

Nadeem Ashraf got 78 and then took 5-25 in a man of the match display but there were also good contributions from Nuwan Herath (51), Kasun Nissanka (45) and Scott Davies (40).
