Great Britain have won two world titles at Hatfield House - in the sport of real tennis.
The over 70 and over 80 teams won their respective Danby and Munoz cups in the real tennis Masters World championship at Hatfield.
Watched avidly by many spectators, who saw perfect examples of enduring fitness and timeless competitiveness, the squads even contained three members of the host club - Jill Newby, Duncan Colquhoun and Jonathan Fisher.
The trio were in GB’s over 70s team which recorded impressive 3-0 wins without dropping a set in each of their matches over USA, Australia and France.
High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster said: "It was a joy to welcome such distinguished players from all over the world to Hertfordshire.
"I am in awe of their skill, precision and impressive stamina but, above all, the camaraderie that has, clearly, developed over many decades.
"Congratulations on a truly wonderful championship and to everyone who has taken part."
