Sailing does not often produce close-run, massed finishes, and they are not common at all down at Stanborough Lakes, but the latest round of races at Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club did serve up one.
The first pursuit race saw Alan Campbell hunt down the fleet and go clear well before the end.
Behind him Charles Adams lost places, but then managed to go back into second place going into the last stages when four boats closed on him.
Rounding the last mark it was Dave Lambert who swept past to go a length clear at the hooter.
Annette Walter started on time in the second race and held off everyone until the near the end when Campbell again made good use of the improved wind conditions to win his second race.
Lambert was third and Adams fourth.
The slightly warmer conditions brought out a few more sailors including Paul Lohr and Sheila Stowe, who weren't far behind despite their lack of recent hours in a boat.
