A traditional event at Brookmans Park Golf Club means only one thing - spring must be here.
The clash between a team led by the club captain and one under the command of the president is always a highlight.
The sun shining merely heightened that as 80 members teed off to see who would win the trophy this year.
The competition is open to all members and there were men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams of two participating in the matchplay event.
Teams were picked in the lead-up, each skipper taking one turn each.
Brookmans Park professional, Ian Jelley, sounded the hooter at 9am and everyone was off on a shotgun start.
Just like the professional Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup all the players did their best to support their particular captain, but in the end it was president Martin Connolly’s team that triumphed over captain Mike Williams’ squad.
The president won 11 to the captain's six, with three matches halved.
This was Connelly’s second win in succession as president and he and club captain Williams treated all the members of the winning team to a post match drink.
