Billericay Town manager has praised Potters Bar for what they are starting to build.
The Blues ended the Scholars' five-match unbeaten run in the Isthmian League Premier Division with a 2-1 success at New Lodge on New Year's Day.
However, it took a Rickie Hayles own-goal in stoppage time to steal a point away from the Bar and it left the home boss impressed with what he had seen.
McCann said: "The opposition brought the fight to us and we were more defending it and batting it away, rather than bringing the fight.
"When opposition come into our backyard, they are going to bring it and we have to make sure we are on the front foot and bringing it at every opportunity.
"I thought their goal in the first five minutes was against the run of play because we have shown a little bit more aggression and showed a little bit more fight.
"It derailed us for a period but then we got a second wind and some momentum and I thought we were excellent in the final 35 minutes.
"I felt we could have scored five and six.
"Admittedly, they had a really good opportunity at 1-0 and that would have been a long way back.
"I was really impressed with Potters Bar, you could see why they have only had one defeat in 12 games,
"Max [Mitchell] and Liam [Hope] have done a great job and they put together a team with an identity.
"They are potent at the front end of the pitch with Brandon Adams, Temi [Babaloala] and Ore [Bello] as well.
"There's a real look to them and it was a tough game. We had to be at our best in the final 30 minutes to take them to him.
"But I did feel that once we got the equaliser and the momentum, there would be only one winner."
