It was a good day for the boss of Welwyn Garden Sailing Club as the latest round of races took place on Stanborough Lakes.
Commodore Charles Adams may have looked way off the pace but was declared the winner when adjustments for handicap were calculated.
Just a few seconds behind was David Lambert who was frustrated by having a slow finish in very light wind.
Matthew Dilks was first junior and first in the personal handicap event.
The weather deteriorated further for the second race leading to Dilks opting out and Adams sailing conservatively for fear of an unwelcome capsize.
It meant Lambert won easily with Mike Caddy in second place.
Tony Hale, with Andy Johnstone as crew, took the Wee Auld Mug as winners of the personal handicap race with Caddy the runner-up.
