The bowls season is heading to its conclusion with various league programmes and cups coming to an end.
Potters Bar have enjoyed a trophy-laden spell over the last two weekends.
The men got the ball rolling with a victory in the annual Jarvis Cup match at Northaw & Cuffley against the hosts and North Mymms.
The Bar team, captained by Chris Budden, won on all four rinks to take the cup.
The ladies' version, the Harvey Cup, ultimately followed the same pattern.
Playing this time at North Mymms but against the same two clubs, Gill Marshall's team survived a rain interrupted afternoon, winning on three of the four rinks.
Potters Bar's president Barry Bowman hosted his very own gala day to continue the good times at The Walk.
An entertaining afternoon of fun bowling was followed by a ploughman’s supper, all to help raise money for Bowman's chosen charity this year, Cardiac Risk in the Young or CRY.
The day added around £800 in total, which had been swelled by £1,250 that was presented to the president as a result of a sponsored Bikeathon by a disabled club member, who cycled 35 miles in five days.
Shire Park (Tewin) ended their East Herts League campaign at home to Stevenage Reds, capturing four points from six available with a rink win for Tom Brown, Alan Goddard and Gus Edwards and a 33-31 success overall.
Park's Yellows took two points in each of their last two Welwyn Hatfield League matches.
Linda Draycott, Elaine Wulcko and Steve Calladine won their rink 19-14 in the home game with Harlequins while Calladine, Bill Griffiths and Edwards won 16-11 at home to BSP.
The Greens did even better away to Datchworth with a clean sweep of the points in a 58-13 success.
Both rinks had big wins, a 25-7 victory for Tom Brown, Andy Short and Paul Ashwell and an even bigger 33-6 win for Brenda Barber, Goddard and Bernie Kleiser.
In the last of the SADBA triples, Shire Park lost by five shots against Welwyn Garden City with six dropped on the final end in the home rink.
The last Welwyn Hatfield Bowls Trophy match saw Martin Taylor, Chris Wright and Ashwell win their rink at WGC.
In the semi-final of the Welwyn Hatfield League fours competition, Shire Park lost away to BSP.
Datchworth’s final East Herts League match saw the Golds host Potters Bar Kites, going down to a narrow 34-32 defeat.
Dave Castle, Keith Smith and Steve Chamberlain were the winning rink, coming out with a 19-12 success.
In Welwyn Hatfield League Division Two, they won 34-26 away to Hertford Castle Jesters.
Again there was one rink win and one loss, the winning team that of Barbara Williams, Julian Hales and Richard Harper.
Two Stevenage Mixed League games brought two victories.
They won 64-36 at home to Aston with a clean sweep on the three rinks.
Lucy Williams, Keith Smith and Graham Akers were the big winners, losing just six ends as they won 27-7.
The second match was away to Stevenage with a win, a loss and a draw on the three rinks.
The winning rink had a bigger margin of victory than the losing rink, Rachel Jones, John Spraggett, Terry Metcalf and Derek Henley winning 20-13, meaning Datchworth picked up a 53-48 success.
A mixed friendly at home to Whitethorn, however, ended in an 85-45 loss.
Only one of the four rinks won, that of Jim Whittle, who was replaced by Lynn Marsh at the break, Jenny Holzbauer and Ian Green.
