Potters Bar’s Dave Sparrow defeated Glenn Cuthbertson from Harpenden in the St Albans & District men’s singles while Pam Rodgers and Diane Jewell came through to win their game against Batchwood in the District Ladies' Pairs.
That duo will team up with Sue Powers later this week to tackle the triples.

They will now travel to Garston on Sunday to play the hosts in the semi-final.
Their two East Herts League teams were in action too, playing each other.
