The 2023 edition of a popular event in Stevenage saw Garden City Runners well represented.
The Fairlands Valley 3k Relays, where teams of four compete in competitions for men, women and mixed squads, saw 20 different quartets from the Welwyn Garden City-based club take part.
There was success too as Juliet Vine, Martha Hall, Zoe Stephens and Lizzy Parry won bronze in the women’s open competition.
There was a silver in vet's competition for Helen Stafford, Rebecca Barden, Veronica Shadbolt and Barbara Kubis-Labiak while over in the men’s competition, a county bronze was secured by Bradley Birch, Dan Pudner, Benj Carr and Chris Baylis.
A county vet bronze went to Peter Harvey, Adam Wadley, Bruce Judge and Simon Bostock.
The Bedford Half Marathon was also popular with Tendy St Francis managing a 14-minute PB with a time of 3:07:44 round the wooded course.
He ran with Samantha Hastie who pushed on in the latter stages to clock 3:04:48 in her seventh half of the year.
In parkrun action there was a victory for Bradley Birch at Panshanger with Thomas Buzzard in fifth and Cecilia Darcy the second lady.
That latter result was matched by Barbara Kubis-Labiak at Opole, Poland, Lucy Iles (Millennium County) and Lauren Potter (Leavesden County) while Caroline Hale was third at Stevenage.
Neil Brittain was fourth at Mallards Pike, Dan Pudner fifth at Basingstoke, Rob Casserley 11th at the same event, and there was an eighth for Paul at Jersey Farm, with Katharine Farrell eighth lady at Heslington.
