A lady bowler from North Mymms Bowls Club has made her mark in a national competition.
Una Harman has successfully navigated herself into the women's singles county final, thanks to a semi-final success at Shire Park Bowls Club in Tewin.
The Welham Green club star will face a derby battle for the county pot, with Alison Hall from Hatfield her opponent, but she already knows she has secured her place in the national finals, to be held at Royal Leamington Spa next month.
Harman got off to a magnificent start against Jo Hollister of Bushey, stretching into an early 17-6 lead.
Hollister kept battling but with Harman on top of her game, bowling consistently and with perfect line and weight, she clinched a 21-11 success.
The county final will take place on Monday at Bishop's Stortford.
A spokeswoman for the club said: "Everyone at North Mymms Bowls Club is very proud of her and we wish her well."
That was only one one of the county semi-finals that was held at Shire Park, something that saw all six rinks used every night with anywhere between 50 and 90 spectators watching on.
Hall proved the star of the week with the 21-18 singles win over Rhianna Russell of Welwyn & District followed up by the deciding shot in the ladies triples along with Phil Scarborough and Mary Banks, again against W&D.
The host club had their own star performer, Elaine Wulcko beating Sue Burbidge from North Mymms to reach the semi-final of the champion of champions competition.
In the Welwyn Hatfield League, Shire Park Greens took four points away to Hertford Wild Cards thanks to a 40-31 win overall and a 26-12 rink success for Paul Lohr, Byron Sinfield and Bernis Kleiser.
The Yellows also picked up four points at Welwyn Garden City with Bill Griffiths, Angus Mullin and Gus Edwards picking up 10 shots on the last two ends to win 18-14 and clinch a 42-37 victory overall.
Edwards couldn't back that up though, losing away to Alan Crowshaw of Parkside in the Jock Hunter Trophy.
There were a couple of games in the Welwyn Hatfield League too for Datchworth Bowls Club.
They hosted Bengeo in a Division Two match and were beaten 36-24 with both rinks losing and it was a similar story in the league's Jubilee Cup which ended in a 47-20 loss.
There was better news in the East Herts League with two wins from three, both coming from the Blues in Division One.
A home game against Hertford Castle saw a 41-24 success and maximum points, the top rink that of Graham Akers, Derek Henley and Peter Hills who won 24-8.
Two days later they beat Ware Wolves at home, 40-35.
Only one rink won this time, a 27-12 victory for Dickie Jackson, Akers and Henley.
The Golds just fell short of making it a clean sweep though, losing 33-32 away to WGC Tigers.
Phil Berry, Julian Hales and Ian Green won 17-16 but with shots lost on the closing three ends, the team of Jack Harper, Keith Smith and Terry Metcalf were beaten 17-15.
Two mixed friendlies saw a 73-54 success over Harperbury before a 99-93 defeat at Sele Farm.
The four rinks were shared in the first game but Linda Tyler, Metcalf and Hales led the way with a 26-9 victory.
There were six rinks in the match against Sele Farm and they were shared equally again.
This time the best of them was Howard Carrick, George Campbell and Hills who won 26-7.
