There were plenty of celebrations for the ladies of Brookmans Park Golf Club as they took the win in the Hertfordshire County Pearson Trophy.
Played at their own course, the squad were up against rivals from East Herts, Brickenden Grange and Hartsbourne, with the final victory coming in a close clash with the latter.
They had seen off East Herts in the morning's semi-finals before edging Hartsbourne to the trophy on the 19th hole in the last of seven matches, Lucy Hagan doing the honours.
Park's Pearson skipper, Wendy Plummer, collected the trophy from Ann Mills, chairman of the Pearson Inter-county competition and Jayne Clark, Hertfordshire County Pearson manager.
The Pearson Challenge Cup began more than a century ago, originally for players from Surrey but including those from Middlesex, Hertfordshire and Kent in 1910.
The rules were tweaked over the years and the format became a team of seven players of handicaps between 15 and 32 from each club playing home and away.
That was changed in 2007 to be handicaps from 13 and matches played off full handicap difference.
As Hertfordshire champions, Brookmans Park now go on the grand final against the winners from Middlesex, Surrey and Kent at Highgate Golf Club on July 19.
For any women looking to take up a new sport this year, the club is hosting a taster day on Sunday, July 2 from 2pm. This is a free event and all equipment is provided, plus complimentary cake and Prosecco.
