More variable weather afflicted Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club but they still managed to get in some good racing in their latest action.
One of the quirks of sailboat racing occurred in the second race when several back markers were finished early because of the dying winds towards the end of the morning.
However, many of those still out on the water ended their race in virtually no wind consequently being beaten by those doing a lap fewer.
The burgee event was won by Annette Walter who dealt best with the vagaries of the weather.
However, the most impressive performance came from runner-up Angelo Hansen who held on to her transom for much of the second race.
As a newly qualified Royal Yachting Assocation instructor, Hansen will be providing training to have more youngsters on the water.
Behind him there was a tie for third place between Dave Lambert and Charles Adams.
Inevitably it was the young Hansen who retained the Wee Auld Mug as winner of the personal handicap event.
Very close behind was another junior, Robin Hailey, while Walter was third.
