Welwyn Garden City have made their first signing under new boss Marc Weatherstone - bringing in a vastly experienced defender.
Sam Hatton began his career in the academy at League Two Stevenage, although he made just one first-team appearance for the Boro.
It was after a move to AFC Wimbledon that his career blossomed and he went on to appear 159 times for the Dons, helping them to three successive promotions and into the Football League.
His next move was to Grimsby Town where he made close to 100 appearances in the the National League, losing to Newport County and Gateshead in two play-off semi-finals.
He then played for Aldershot Town, Hemel Hempstead Town and Dartford and the 34-year-old, who was born in St Albans, was most recently alongside the new WGC gaffer at Enfield Town and Wingate & Finchley.
Weatherstone said: "Sam is a model player. He's a high-level professional and will bring a wealth of experience to what is basically a youthful squad at WGC.
"I’m delighted to have signed him."
The new Urbaser Stadium boss also revealed that Hatton will assist with some coaching with the Citizens.
