The annual captain against president face-off at Brookmans Park Golf Club had two new faces at the helms of each team.

New skipper Brian Hall and new president Martin Connelly, starting his three-year term in the role, picked their teams prior to the event from all those who entered the competition.

It was played as a four-ball, better ball, match-play event and there were many close matches with several halved.

In the end though the president came out on top 9-8.

The presentation of the trophy was made at the club’s Oktoberfest social evening, with nearly 100 members and guests in attendance and a traditional Bavarian oompah band.

The club’s mixed team meanwhile were away to Berkhamsted for the final game in an annual three game series.

After two rounds earlier in the year Berkhamsted lead 8-4 but in a fantastic late charge, led by Hall and ladies' captain Jacquie Lowe, they won 7-3 on the day to draw 11-11 overall.

And with Brookmans Park the holders, they retained the trophy for another year.
