A lacklustre Potters Bar Town slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Kidlington in their penultimate home league game of the season.
The Scholars went into the Southern League Division One Central clash having not scored in three games and that became four during an afternoon in which they rarely threatened their visitors.
In blazing sunshine, Potters Bar started well enough and had the opening chance as a Michael Murray free-kick whistled over the bar.
A nice move then saw striker Rob Hastings chest the ball down to the onrushing Ryan Forde and from 20 yards his shot was straight at visiting keeper Bojan Tetek.
A first foray forward from Kidlington saw them force two consecutive corners with the second just headed over by Tom Castle.
A set-piece proved to be key for the away side soon after.
The opening goal came from midfielder Lewis Gabbidon as he headed home a corner from the left on 23 minutes.
Following the goal the away side applied pressure to the hosts as they looked for a second.
They went close as Eric Odhiambo’s drive was deflected off target.
A low, and wide, Chris Doyle attempt was all that The Scholars could muster in response before the break.
Just six minutes into the second half it was no surprise Anaclet Odhiambo tucked in from inside the box to double Kidlington’s advantage.
The score was then 3-0 as Lewis Coyle smashed home a free-kick that gave keeper Berkley Laurencin no chance.
Bar’s best chance of the afternoon came as Murray curled a low free-kick goalwards, but as it looked to be sneaking into the bottom corner a diving Tetek got down to it and made a fine stop.
Potters Bar will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday as they travel to Petersfield Town, a win there would hand the Scholars the club record points tally at step four.
