Planning committees across Hertfordshire are busy as ever, with plenty of applications coming through each week. 

We've compiled a list of just some of the applications that are currently pending in our areas.

Here are some that might have gone under the radar:

1. Harry Potter star’s family plans to build 15 homes

The family of Ruper Grint - or Ron Weasley from Harry Potter - has submitted plans to build 15 homes in Kimpton.

If approved, the developer would transform The Lodge at Kimpton Grange into six apartments.

Four terraced two-bed homes and five detached houses would also be built in the countryside estate between Luton and Welwyn.

Thirteen out of fifteen comments on the proposal are opposed to the plans.

2. Five bedroom house turned into children's home

The application seeks permission to convert the property, 48 The Runway, into a residential institution for a maximum of four children aged between eight and eighteen. 

Along with the children, the 120 sq. metre site will take on three carers, two of which would sleep overnight and work on a rota basis. 

The applicant said it has had regular discussions with the Hertfordshire Social Services Department, which has confirmed the urgent need for such care homes. Savannah Lodge Ltd is established and already operates five homes.

3. Plans to turn storage unit into studio flat

Omnicrest Construction Ltd hopes to develop the site of the unit in Marlborough Court - off Green Close - into accommodation.

Plans also include the installation of three windows.

The 81 sq. metre site currently comprises of a storage space over a block of residential garages, and a parking space.

The storage area is part of schemes that were approved in 2013 and 2014, which brought 12 new residential units.

4. National grocer looks to take over section of Next store

The plans seek to extend the permitted retail use to include the sale of food in unit 1A of Olding's Corner Retail Park, in Comet Way. 

The unit is currently occupied by Next. This change of condition will see 64 per cent of the unit's floorspace occupied by a national multiple grocer. 

The proposed development is also seeking to utilise unused food and drink space from an entirely different unit.

Plans would see an additional 235sqm of floorspace to be used for the sale of food and drink to meet the requirements of both operators.

5. Chicken restaurant in Stevenage town centre

Pepe's Piri Piri is a chain, with 169 restaurants currently open across the UK. They also operate venues in the Republic of Ireland and the UAE.

The application for the restaurant which used to be a PDSA charity shop, includes floor plans for 30 seats.

A week before these plans were submitted, Stevenage Borough Council received planning applications for another new eatery in the town centre - a Greek restaurant called 'Pitta Hub'.
