Hertsmere MP Sir Oliver Dowden has been knighted for his political and public service.

The MP attended a ceremony at Windsor Castle where he was honoured as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath.

The award, which was announced in the July Dissolution Honours, was presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

"It was a very proud moment to be presented with the Honour by HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, at Windsor Castle in front of my family.

"I would like to thank them for their support in my time in public service. I would also like to thank the people of Hertsmere who have continued to put their faith in me as their Member of Parliament over the past decade.

"Representing Hertsmere in Parliament is a huge privilege, as well as previously serving in a number of Government positions, including Deputy Prime Minister."

The July Dissolution Honours were announced on July 4, 2024, the day of the general election.

Sir Oliver was one of three people honoured with a Knight Commander of the Order of Bath (KCB), along with former chief whip and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Julian Richard Smith and former Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace.
