A moped has been seized in Hatfield after its rider went off-road to flee from police following a chase.
On Friday, November 29, officers from the Welwyn & Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted the speeding vehicle in Oxlease area, which also drew attention due to the number plates being covered.
The rider quickly spotted the officers and mounted the before driving across pathways and grass in an attempt to flee.
The chase finished when the moped rider drove through an alleyway which led to a wooded area. A mud trail led the officers to a back garden, where the moped and clothes were recovered.
Police confirmed "the rider has been identified and will be prosecuted for various traffic offences".
The incident was part of Operation Oarlock which is seeing officers carrying out increased patrols in Goldings House, Goldings Crescent, Link Close, Wood Close, Wood Vale , Deerswood Avenue, Northdown Road, Garden Avenue, Roe Green Lane and St Albans Road West.
