Hello,

My name is Jean-Luc and I featured in the Welwyn Hatfield Times back in June.

Sadly I am still waiting for my special person or family. So here I am again to give you the message: All I want for Christmas is a home'.

When I arrived at Southridge, quite some time ago now, I was in a sorry state, very underweight, depressed and anxious because of the neglect and poor care I had experienced before I was rescued.

The love and nurturing I have received from staff and volunteers at Southridge is second to none.

You wouldn't recognise me now. After good food, veterinary care and lots and lots of love, I have metamorphosed from a sad, anxious, bedraggled boy into the fabulous and magnificent German Shepherd I now am.

I am a neutered male, seven years young, demonstrated by my enthusiasm for walks in the fresh air.

I am always ready and waiting to greet my human friends with a big smile and my impeccable manners to have my lead and harness attached so I can stride out for a stroll around the fields, or a romp in the compound with my staff and volunteer buddies.

When I get back to my kennel, I love to be brushed, which keeps my coat shiny and smooth.

I am bright, eager and very smart, and I may lack formal training, but I do know the basics and have impeccable manners on lead and am a pleasure to be with, and I love treats so this helps too.

However, I am now feeling quite despondent and sad, wondering if my time to go home will ever come?

I am one of the longest residents here, having seen so many dogs come into the shelter and go onto loving homes, while despite my well behaved, charming, gentle, affectionate and sunny nature I am still here waiting - something I can't understand as I am such a favourite with everyone.

While I generally ignore the other dogs I see when out walking here at Southridge, I would prefer to be the only animal in my new home, and definitely want an adult-only household.

I will also need my own private and securely fenced garden, large enough for me to play, sunbathe and potter around.

I have had such a bad start to my life, I think I deserve for the second half to be a happy ever after one, with all the comforts of home and family.

As is common with my breed, I do have some ongoing medical issues related to my joints, meaning I may need life-long medication. This is something you could discuss with Southridge staff.

Please, please give me - Jean-Luc the Super Shepherd - the best every Christmas gift, a home with you!
