A man has been given a lifetime achievement award for his dedication to aviation.
Aviation Heritage UK has recognised Ian Thirsk for his work at the RAF Museum Hendon and the de Havilland Aircraft Museum near London Colney.
Mr Thirsk worked at the RAF Museum for more than three decades, before retiring in 2021.
He was the head of collections and coordinated the recovery of the sole surviving Dornier Do 17 from the English Channel in 2013.
He has also been volunteering at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum for more than 40 years.
Ian said: "I am both surprised and delighted to receive this award.
"I’ve been fortunate to enjoy my career in the aviation heritage sector so it comes as a bonus."
