There is delight for the owner of a Welwyn pub after its new Mexican kitchen has proved a big success with hungry punters.

TNT Tacos n’ Tequila started serving customers at The Steamer Pub in London Road on Friday, October 18, and has earned rave reviews in its opening week, much to the delight of pub owner Andi Nicolaou.

"Things have been going really well and we had a really fantastic opening week. We were really busy and the reviews have been great. We are delighted with how it has gone," she told the Welwyn Hatfield Times.

Offering up birria tacos, loaded nachos, small plates and more, Andi believes The Steamer and TNT Tacos n’ Tequila is the place to be for the best Mexican food in the area.

"There isn't really any other Mexican places around so we really want to get out there that this is where people should be coming if they want to eat high quality Mexican food," she added.

Andi grew up in Welwyn and has made it her aim to return The Steamer to its former glory, having taken over two years ago when the pub was being used as Thai restaurant.

She believes the new Mexican helps offer something different, continuing: "I took over The Steamer two years ago, and it was a Thai restaurant at the time.

"I'm from the village and have lived here since I was nine, so I knew that everyone wanted The Steamer to be a pub again, and that was my aim from the very start.

"Obviously we wanted to serve food, and the kitchen has been rented out in the past. It's been a Chinese, an Indian and Thai, so I thought we need something a bit different in there.

"We've done lots of renovations and changes throughout the pub and it looks completely different."
