Described as “a massive jewel in the local theatre scene’s crown” by Clive Weatherley following their 2023 production of Kinky Boots, Green Room hopes to be unwrapping another gem in their “rich portfolio of shows” with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

With the Oompa Loompas preparing for opening night on Tuesday, November 5, the production is ready to burst onto the scene.

Green Room has a talented cast bringing Roald Dahl’s quirky characters to life.

This production is not just about visual delights and humour — it’s filled with heartfelt performances that highlight the timeless themes of family, kindness, and imagination.

Directed by John Hebden, this production features the mischievous Willy Wonka and his magical Chocolate Factory, Grandpa Joe, the ever-hopeful Charlie Bucket and the other larger-than-life golden ticket winners.

Audiences will be transported into a candy-coated wonderland full of dancing and catchy, funny songs including some that will be familiar from the famous 1971 film starring Gene Wilder.

Green Room’s chairperson Alastair Woodgate said: “Bringing a world full of Pure Imagination to life has been great fun and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.

"The Oompa Loompas and the Glass Elevator have been an exciting challenge — and you’ll have to come along to see how we do it!”
