A primary school has teamed up with a housing developer for a community art project.

Our Lady Catholic Primary School's Year 2 pupils submitted their artwork in a drawing challenge organised by Sovereign Network Group (SNG).

The best pieces will be transformed into a mural on the hoarding surrounding the Bloom housing development in Welwyn Garden City.

Kalumba Musambachime, SNG's head of sales and build to rent (London and East), said: "We believe in building more than just homes; we are committed to fostering a sense of community.

"By incorporating the creativity of local children into our development site, we are celebrating the community’s spirit and future."

Bloom, which will consist of 56 one and two-bedroom properties, is named in honour of the town's green initiatives as a garden city.

The development, in the heart of Welwyn Garden City, has been described as "epitomising innovative urban living".
