Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team recently met with Saracens Rugby club and tried their hand at wheelchair rugby.
On Saturday (September 14), officers attended Birchwood Leisure Centre in Hatfield, where the wheelchair rugby team train every Saturday from 1pm.
PC Darren Turner, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The training session included various drills culminating in several 10-minute matches.
“It was hard work but rewarding. It has given everyone that attended a newfound respect for wheelchair rugby and wheelchair users in general.
“As neighbourhood officers, we are responsible for meeting with all sections of the local community and reminding them that we are here to help. It was great to meet the rugby players and hopefully they got as much out of the visit as we did!
No experience of wheelchair rugby is needed to join the club.
