A screening opinion has been launched for a 450-home development in Brookmans Park.
The plans, submitted by Hill Resident Ltd and the Royal Veterinary College, are proposing to build the major development on land to the west of the village.
A primary school, associated open space and a pedestrian and cycling bridge over the railways lines are also part of the plans.
A screening review in planning is a process that determines if a development requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before a planning application is submitted.
