An anxious cat from Cats Protection Welwyn, Hatfield & District is looking for a home after spending more than 470 days in care.

Bridget, Cats Protection's longest-stay resident, has been cared for by the charity since May 2023, after her elderly owner was no longer able to look after her.

Appeals to find the 13-year-old black-and-white cat a suitable family have so far failed, with adopters seemingly put off by Bridget's timid nature and tendency to hide away.

Bridget needs an owner who is happy to take a hands-off approach, with no expectation that she will want to be petted or handled.

She also needs unlimited run of a pet and child-free house, where she can hide to help her cope with her anxiety and with access to a large garden to explore.

Caroline Howden, coordinator of the team at Welwyn, Hatfield & District, said: "While Bridget may not be the most affectionate of pets, she could become the perfect housemate for the right person, and after so long in care we are really pinning our hopes on finding her the right forever family."

Bridget's new owner will be supported with six months of free behaviour advice, and she is fully vaccinated, microchipped and up to date with flea and worm treatments.
