Police have released a new CCTV image and called for witnesses to come forward after a fatal crash involving a mobility scooter in Hatfield.

At around 9am on Thursday, August 15, a mobility scooter, being driven by a 79-year-old man, was involved in a collision with a silver Kia Creed on the traffic light-controlled crossing by the shopping centre in Queensway.

The man, who has since been named as Keith Whiting, was treated at the scene by paramedics but sadly died shortly after the collision.

Now, officers investigating the incident are trying to locate the occupants of a suspected white Kia Sportage Mark 4, produced between 2015 to 2020, as they may have witnessed the collision.

Detective Sergeant Ben Heath, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with Keith’s loved ones at this difficult time, and I am urging anyone with information to please come forward.

"We suspect that the driver or occupants of the white Kia may have witnessed the collision, and we would like them to please come forward to assist the investigation.

"I would like to make it clear that the occupants are not in trouble, but we think they may have key information to help our enquiries and wish to speak with them.

"If you have any further details that may help our officers, please email me at Ben.Heath@herts.police.uk."
