An arrest has been made following the death of a former Welwyn Garden City footballer in Sweden last month.
Authorities are holding an individual on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder.
Juan Cifuentes, 33, had travelled to Denmark alongside Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, for a business trip, but failed to return home as expected on Sunday, July 14.
Later that day, emergency crew found their bodies in the shell of a Toyota Rav 4.
The Swedish Prosecution Authority said that the investigation continues in both Sweden and the UK.
Prosecutors now have until September 1 to decide whether or not the suspect should remain in custody.
Prosecutors believe Mr Abdulrazak and Mr Cifuentes rented the vehicle at an airport in Denmark hours before their bodies were discovered.
Juan was part of Welwyn Garden City FC's double winning squad in the 2014/15 football season.
After his death, the club's manager paid tribute, describing him as: "Someone that became a close friend, a brilliant team mate, a father and husband."
He added: "His legacy lives on in his children, who embody the love and values he instilled in them."
His family said he was "a pillar of strength and compassion".
