Two 22kw electric vehicle chargers have been installed in Codicote, at The John Clements Sports and Community Club in Bury Lane.
These are the first public chargers in Codicote which are available for all.
Discounts are offered to local residents, and an enhanced discount to club members.
Tony, a trustee of The John Clements Sports and Community Trust, said: "These follow the recent installation of 60 solar panels on the John Clements building and are another important step in 'greening Codicote', as well as enhancing the facilities and attractiveness of the centre.
"The John Clements Sports and Community Club offers amazing sports and social facilities to all members and visitors. It was built in memory of local schoolteacher John Clements, who sadly lost his life saving schoolchildren from their burning hotel whilst on a skiing trip in northern Italy back in 1976. He was awarded the George Cross.
"Two 22kw rapid chargers have been installed initially, which can deliver a charge of approximately 66 per cent in just two hours, enabling plenty of time to charge up your battery whilst watching the cricket, playing tennis or enjoying a light drink from the bar.
"There are plans for more to follow based on demand.
"Financial support for this initiative was provided by several charitable organisations and the parish council.
"Any queries regarding this facility should be sent to evcharging@thejc.org.uk."
