A man has been seriously injured and taken to hospital with 'multiple suspected stabs wounds' following an assault in Hatfield.
The incident occurred between 10.30pm and 10.45pm yesterday (Thursday, August 15) in Market Place.
It is reported that the victim, a 24-year-old man, was approached by two unknown men, and during an argument one of them punched the victim in the face and the other man reportedly produced a bladed article.
The victim was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds, which are not being treated as life-threatening.
Inspector Amy Sheldon, from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or have information about the incident which occurred yesterday evening.
“Residents might have noticed that there is an increased police presence in the area and this could continue until later today. However, I do want to stress that we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no greater threat to the wider public.
“Please report any information you have as it may help with our enquiries.”
