Despite gloomy weather, more than 150 former Rolls-Royce employees gathered for a reunion recently at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum.
The former employees, most of whom previously worked at the Leavesden factory near Watford, braved the weather to reconnect with old colleagues.
Attendees included many former apprentices, some travelling from as far as the USA.
The former apprentices reminisced about the good times at Leavesden, including the social club and thrilling airshows - one of which famously featured a fly-past by Concorde.
The previous reunion in 2022 took place at Leavesden, which is now the home of the Warner Brothers Studios.
This year's reunion had added appeal to visitors, who were able to get up close to iconic aircraft such as the de Havilland Mosquito and the Comet Jetliner.
Attendees took part in small-group guided tours, with talks on the Halford Engine Collection, and demonstrations of the Merlin engine, which was designed by Rolls-Royce and powered numerous allied aircraft.
The Welwyn Garden City Band entertained visitors with a broad repertoire, including several martial numbers, and - in honour of the Euros - 'Three Lions'.
This reunion was organised by Emlyn and Evelyn Parry. Emlyn grew up close to the Leavesden plant, which inspired his career in the RAF - including being a flight engineer on Chinook helicopters.
