A Knebworth care home resident has revealed the secrets to living a long life after celebrating her 103rd birthday.
Doris Leahy, who lives at Care UK’s Knebworth care home on London Road, marked the occasion with family, friends, staff, and a special birthday cake.
Doris was born and grew up in West Hamstead, London, where she worked as a dressmaker.
She married her first husband Geoffrey in 1939 and moved to Salisbury, where they had their son, Ronald. She married her second husband, John, in 1964 and now has three grandsons and four great-granddaughters.
Revealing her secrets to a long life, Doris said: "Keeping busy, never being idle and always being positive."
Reflecting on her big day, she added: "I had a wonderful day – it was lovely having all my friends and relatives here to celebrate with me."
"Here at Knebworth, we love to pull out all the stops for our residents’ special occasions – and Doris's milestone birthday certainly called for a party," said home manager Daniel Grab.
