A free music festival will return to the grounds of historic Hertford Castle next month — with the line-up now revealed.
This year’s Rock at the Castle will take place on Sunday, August 4 from noon to 7pm in the beautiful grounds of Hertford Castle.
The free music festival, which showcases a diverse line-up of young and upcoming talent, covering a range of musical tastes, sees thousands of visitors return year after year.
With three stages spread over three different areas, there will be something for everyone in the line-up.
The main stage will be on the Hertford Castle lawn along with food and refreshment stands.
The Moat Garden and the Island stages will be home to solo and duo acts with a more relaxed and acoustic inspired feel.
Councillor Ann Woodward, chair of the development and leisure committee at Hertford Town Council, said: “The Rock at the Castle line-up is really shaping up to be the best we have ever had and we look forward to welcoming both residents and visitors to this fantastic highlight in our events programme.”
The event is sponsored by McMullen’s Brewery and Duffield Harrison.
Although there's a few slots still to be confirmed, you can see who is playing so far below.

Rock at the Castle's chosen charity
Although Rock at the Castle is a free event to attend, this year’s selected charity, Citizens Advice East Herts, will be fundraising on the gates.
Citizens Advice East Herts was selected by Hertford Town councillors who carefully considered applications from many amazing local charities.
Chief executive officer Maxine Bromyard said: “We are over the moon to be chosen as the charity for Rock at the Castle.
"As a charity we must fundraise to run our free advice service and we’re so grateful to have this opportunity to raise awareness of our work as well as much-needed funds. We look forward to a marvellous event.”
Donations will be used to run the Contact Centre in Fleming Crescent, Hertford Sele, which is open every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm.
The Contact Centre provides a drop-in for people without internet or phone access, those who have health issues or language and learning difficulties, so that they can access support and advice.
The centre is well used by the people of Hertford and surrounding areas, helping hundreds of people with free, impartial and reliable advice.
Rock at the Castle alcohol policy
Visitors can bring alcohol into Hertford Castle grounds but are limited to no more than four cans of beer/cider/pre-mixed drinks or one bottle of wine which will be decanted on entry per person into the premises before 4pm.
No glass will be allowed on site.
In an effort to reduce waste, Hertford Town Council encourages reusable cups to be brought from home.
