Children at schools across Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield have received a free sun care goody bag, thanks to donations from Tesco and Nivea.

Pupils at Homerswood Primary and Nursery School, Applecroft School, Our Lady Catholic Primary School, Howe Dell Primary School, Holwell Primary School, Swallow Dell Primary School, Templewood Primary and Nursery School, and Knightsfield School, received the 2,400 bags.

The goody bags, which included sun cream, a sun-safety leaflet, and sun-safety colouring books and pencils, were handed out after Nivea proposed installing sun cream dispensers in the Tesco head office in Welwyn Garden City.

Sophie Cornish, category planning manager for beauty at Tesco, had other ideas, saying: "When Nivea generously offered to fit our head office with sun cream dispensers we chatted internally and instead, came up with the idea of donating sun cream and educational posters to schools in our local area.

"We felt the schools would benefit more as it would help spread awareness of the importance of good sun safety habits and provide schools and parents with extra sun cream products during the summer.

"We delivered most of the goody bags on the same day, and it was wonderful to engage with the teachers and students at the schools.

"This collaboration with Nivea has been a lot of fun and we're already looking forward to potentially continuing this partnership next year."
