Children had a go at a range of sporting activities at the Welwyn Garden City Polish Saturday School sports day.

Each of the sports stations offered a different activity - including volleyball, dance, cricket, tennis, karate, football and yoga.

Polish Saturday School trustee Anna Skiba said: "The Sports Day at the J. Przybora Polish Saturday School in Welwyn Garden City showed once again that there is strength in teamwork.

"We were delighted that our event was also attended by the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Cllr Frank Marsh.

"We were equally pleased that the rain did not spoil our event, and everyone was in good spirits from the very beginning!"

Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) provided financial support for the event.

Handside councillor Michal Siewniak, an honorary trustee of the Saturday School, said: "Our Sports Day enabled our 130 students to participate in countless activities.

"The event helped our children to create new friendships, listen to coaches’ instructions and respect others. They all had plenty of opportunities to learn and develop new skills.

"In my view, similar initiatives give our children an amazing opportunity to grow, become more confident individuals but also to challenge themselves."

Iwona Pniewska, from the Saturday School, added: "Any grassroots sport teaches our children resilience, strength and patience.
