Police have seized a van on the A1(M) in Hatfield after it weighed in at a staggering 72 per cent overweight.
Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit stopped the vehicle after suspecting it may be overweight and were proved correct, with the heavily loaded van weighing in well above the limit.
The driver is expected to be hit with a substantial fine and points on their licence.
Every vehicle has a 'Maximum Authorised Mass', or MAM, which is the maximum load that can be carried safely on the road.
It can be found in the owner's manual of your vehicle.
