A premises occupied by a Welwyn Garden City takeaway has been repossessed by the council.
Rumours began to circulate online last week about the closure of Sushi & Shakes Burrito Grill, which operated from 20 Hall Grove.
Notices then appeared at the front of the unit claiming the property had been repossessed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, with bailiffs from Bryan Lecoche Ltd sent into the property.
The news was confirmed to the Welwyn Hatfield Times by a council spokesperson, who said: "The council can confirm that we are the owners of 20 Hall Grove in Welwyn Garden City, and we have taken steps to repossess the premises.
"As this matter may be subject to ongoing litigation we are unable to comment further."
Sushi & Shakes Burrito Grill opened last February, with their menu claiming to "deliver the heat" through their Mexican and Asian cuisine.
During the takeaway's time in business, it earned three stars reviews and a five-star hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.
The Welwyn Hatfield Times reached out to Sushi & Shakes Burrito Grill for comment, but is yet to receive a response.
