A Welwyn Garden City gymnast couldn't hide her pride after winning an international tournament.
Katherine Pugh won her category at the Latvian Veterans Open, a tournament held for gymnasts aged 25-plus in the capital city of Riga.
Competition was tough, but she held off her challengers to win, impressing in all four traditional women’s events, the vault, bars, beam and floor.
"This was my first result at an international competition so I feel very proud," she said.
"It was my second international competition and I thoroughly enjoyed representing my country and having the opportunity to meet like-minded gymnasts from across the continent."
Katherine is set for a busy few weeks, withy competitions coming up back in the UK in Oxfordshire and Colchester, before the National Adult British Championships in August.
Gymnastics is not just about the competing though, with Katherine adding: "I absolutely love competing, but there’s plenty of people who take part in gymnastics as an adult just for fun.
"It’s a great way to keep fit."
Gosling Sports Centre are running free sessions as part of the This Girl Can campaign on Wednesday, June 12, from 6pm to 8pm. There is also a weekly adult class every Thursday evening from 7.30pm till 9pm.
