The Galleria in Hatfield has fully transitioned to 100 per cent renewable energy.
The shopping centre is now entirely powered by green energy sources including wind and solar, leading the way among UK shopping and leisure destinations.
Tim Stirling, centre director, said: "We are thrilled to have made this change.
"As custodians of a building like The Galleria we have a responsibility to ensure the running of the building is as sustainable as possible."
The transformative commitment towards eco-friendliness is part of The Galleria's wider strategic plan under new ownership.
The centre’s key focus is to create a more environmentally-friendly destination for shoppers.
In addition to the transition to renewable energy, there are ambitious plans to further challenge the centre's operational characteristics.
Mr Stirling added: "We’re looking into everything from harvesting rainwater, to how we recycle packaging and waste products, to introducing sustainable planting inside the building and eco-initiatives such as bees producing honey on the roof.
"This is all in addition to the many sustainability measures that our retail partner brands are doing themselves."
Potential visitors who wish to learn more about The Galleria's ongoing green strategy can do so via the centre's Facebook and Instagram channels.
