A family friend of a four-year-old girl with a severe heart condition has braved the shave to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Andy Gunn decided to raise the money after seeing the work the hospital has done for Louise*, the granddaughter of his close friend Terence Salter.
Four-year-old Louise was born with a heart condition and has been battling the odds since birth, having her first heart surgery just three days after being born.
Terence said: "Me and my wife Becky are so blessed to have our wonderful granddaughter in our lives. She's spent a lot of her life at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the staff are absolutely fantastic.
"Louise spent her first Christmas back in Great Ormond Street Hospital for her second heart operation. Father Christmas arrived and gave her lots of gifts. The parents staying at the hospital during Christmas day were also given a wonderful Christmas lunch."
Andy chose to raise money for the hospital after seeing the tireless work of staff and surgeons who look after Louise, but he also has his own reasons to be grateful to GOSH.
He explains: "Twenty-four years ago my own granddaughter was in the same hospital with silent pneumonia and the hospital did an amazing job then and they're doing an amazing job now.
"I'll do anything for kids, especially a friend's kid and the situation really inspired me to the feel the need to do something".
Andy got sponsors from across the area and raised £900 for charity in advance of the big day, which saw his head shaved free of charge by Welwyn Garden City barber shop Blades & Co.
The money raised will go towards refurbishment of the hospital, providing holistic care for children and further their extensive research.

Terence hailed the ''absolutely brilliant'' work of the surgeons at GOSH, saying: "The team really do transform the lives of the seriously ill children from across the UK who are cared for at GOSH), and they can’t do it without the support of donations."
He added: "We are overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone who has supported Andy."
